This video demonstrates how Team 1868Z is reaching out into our community to inspire the next generation to develop an interest in STEM and consider a future career in it.  Open to all, but focused on girls, our outreach activities give participants hand-on experience with robotics and exposure to an all-girl VEX team. Modeled after a news broadcast, this segment of "Girl Powered News" shows how much dedication the team members put into helping young girls feel empowered to become part of the STEM community. Including footage recorded at an actual outreach event, an interview with one of the team's outreach co-captains, Sophia, describes the impact these activities can have on breaking down gender stereotypes in robotics and engineering. This segment is just a glimpse of the outreach that Team 1868Z does through out the season to break down the barriers that discourage girls from pursuing STEM. Our mission is to inspire the next generation to explore robotics, challenge sterotypes, and reach for the sky in pursuit of their dreams. Recorded on location at the "When I Grow Up" event at the Hiller Aviation Museum, San Carlos, CA. Newsroom footage recorded at NASA Ames Research Center, Moffett Field, CA.
