We Thought Our Season Was Over

This competition was our team’s last chance to qualify for state. We thought our day had ended minutes prior to this snapshot. We lost in our quarterfinal match. We would go home empty-handed. We decided to stand on the side after our match to hear the next two awards be announced. We won the design award! “Your notebook was amazing,” said the judge. We came together for a group hug, immensely excited, joyful, and proud. Those remarks the judge had made about our team had given us the validation we needed. We were going to state and nationals.
