I’m Emma and I’m on team 74177Z, the Lady Pirates. We are a Vex IQ team of six girls from Pinecrest Sloan Canyon. I chose to write about how software engineering is used in space exploration because I love programming and I would like to one day be able to send a rover to another planet. I learned more about this profession, like that the average annual salary for a software engineer is about $100,000. This field is very popular because software engineers can find jobs in almost any industry. In the United States in 2019, there were about 1,469,200 jobs in software engineering. I learned that the entry level software engineers usually need at least a bachelor’s degree in a STEM related field. I learned many interesting things about software engineering, space exploration, and some of the professionals working in this field while researching and writing this essay. I loved working on this project!
