In our infographic, our team, 12M from Potomac School Robotics, sought to share our experience as the only all-girls team at our school. Through the mentorship of our coaches, we’ve not only learned what it means to be a female in STEM, but also realized the importance of empowering everyone to be involved in STEM, and we aim to inculcate those same virtues in a variety of service initiatives. As a team, we recently made 100 science kits for children at Second Story (a non-profit organization in our local community) to help ensure kids have access to STEM education amidst the pandemic. Additionally, we dedicate our individual extracurriculars to making the STEM community more approachable. We hope that this essay shows how small acts of kindness and service make a huge difference promoting the accessibility of STEM.
