"Thinking Outside The Box" Photography Challenge
Now that the COVID-19 pandemic is global and most of us are practicing social distancing to help flatten the curve, that leaves many of us with a lot of downtime or finding unique ways to accomplish a goal. With school or activities being hybrid, virtual, or in-person, we wanted to come up with a new photography challenge for this season.
Take some time to focus your mind and attention on some photo projects that can help you become a better photographer and to think outside the box. Part of becoming an improved photographer is understanding how to challenge yourself to put the skills you already have to the test and acquire new skills that will allow you to expand your boundaries as a photographer and a member of the VEX community.
With this challenge, you will not travel to far-off locations to find material worthy of a photo. We want you to submit a photo of something or someone in your everyday life that reminds you of your experience with VEX Robotics and why. Compose a photo that conveys an emotion, specifically the feeling you experience when you are reminded of the season’s before and what you love most.

Virtual Reality
Virtual Reality
It’s like a light bulb of curiosity when I see it. It’s shape and details in it make me wonder how it works. How does this even possible to it make the paper 3D? It’s like a piece of art when you think of it. Makes me feel so interested clouds of questions pop up in my head. Reminds me of a high-tech robot. How do you make this printer and all the wires? When...
big big loader
My photo is a picure of a LK700A an I went down state to get it, it is very old and has been in a pole barn for most of its life.
What Switch Again?
This is breaker from my house with one to many switches, shows complexity. It shows that you must know a lot about electronics to put together an electric board like this. It also reminds of me that I am working on a CIA mission and I am trying to cut a phone line to a enemy office in WWII. I am trying to figure out what wire to cut before he calls in a air-strike on the United States. It is like an electrician putting the wires connected. Thank you very much for letting me participate in this Robotics Challenge.
Construction
Construction
Construction is the word explaining the thought, process, hard work, and dedication to all of our products here at Grand Traverse Area Catholic Schools. We work tirelessly at our robots and do not give up until we have done our complete earnest and best work to our robots. We only use the finest manufactured VEX code supplies when using our robots. We use the finest most prestige VEX code IQ blocks software in our work. Here at our School, Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton, we focus on the hard work and dedication of our students.
Concentration and Precision
Lily focused very hard on a tiny little spacer between the tweezers. She tried to fit the spacer into a gap no wider than a finger nail. Diya on the right used both hands to pry open two C-channels to give more space. Chloe on the left held the robot chassis with an angle to give her teammates ease of access. Team effort was accomplished. The team worked at the garage, kept as much social distancing as possible with doors opened for ventilation. Good Thinking. Go, 90F!
Were Does This Go??
This is my brother working on his vex robot a couple years back.
Flashback
I think I’ve grown up too fast. When we have to get a task done on the team, we get it done. When I was younger, I could never have gotten that stuff done. It feels like being a grown up in robotics because you can’t be a baby. We get to play during competition when we get our stuff done. That’s because we get awards. We are mature.
Sharing Responsibilities with safety protocols
Sharing Responsibilities with safety protocols during Pandemic. Inclusiveness in ownership.
fans are complex
Reminds me how it can look simple but I could be a complicated creation you just never know how complicated it might be looks simple on the outside complex on the inside of the tech. Technology look simple but the tech is a complex thing harder than it looks fans are an example of this complex things they look like a blade on a stick, but a lot of work goes into them including wiring, screwing, placement, shape, and quality. A phone may look simple too but really it has a lot of pieces to it that’s why phones are so expensive is...
Outlet to Imagination
Curiousness. An outlet is not only a source for power, but also an outlet for a kid to make a robot do whatever they want. VEX is such a big part of kid’s lives, to have fun during school. School should not be a place where a kid dreads to go, but a place where they are excited to go to. Outlets are a source of energy, to power the robots and computers. Kids need to learn to code in this day and age. It is such an important skill for our future.
Think to the Future
I belive in making the future better but scintists and engineers are all ready doing that. Robots exspress that very much and I hope to capture that in my statment and picture.
44691R Quality Control: From Old to New
This picture shows my team's robot from last year, in the same position where it was placed months before when we left it with school and worlds being canceled. With the rubber bands snapped and boxes all around it, it reminds me of a sad scene from a movie where a person finds old objects of the past. This is what our robot feels like, a memory of the past that's served its purpose. However, it's what gave my current team the resources to build our new robot that hopefully will do just as good as the previous one had.

Keep Calm and Write On
My name is Jeanelle Reyna, and my official caption and photo is in the pdf file. This was shot with a Nikon D800 and a 28-300mm lens at 28mm, F4, ISO 800, 1/60 sec. I composed and directed this photo to capture how robotics makes me feel. Make sure to keep calm and write on!
Spur of the moment take
It may not seem like much, but to me, it is what VEX robotics is all about for me. Now I know I should have picked a great image like a picture of the team or something, but digging through the photos, I realized there were a few random pictures like this one. The reason for taking it is not known to me anymore, but I like that because it is for a specific purpose or even something important now. I picked it at random, and it goes back to January 2019 at a competition in Beaufort, South Carolina. It was also when I was part of 9623M in my sophomore year of high...
