Journalism. That is what I thought I was going to do with my life. I had never thought about engineering or anything of that sort. That all changed when my journalism teacher assigned me the job of reporting on the schools robotics team. I reluctantly agreed thinking that it was going to be uninteresting. I was dead wrong. From the first competition on I was hooked, I couldn’t get enough of robotics. I soon joined my schools robotics team and during the summer I took some basic VEX classes that my team offered to incoming freshman or the newbie’s. I could already tell that there was more to robotics than meets the eye. My sophomore year (this year) I am currently taking my schools robotics class and am involved in VEX robotics. I have already competed in 3 competitions and I can tell you that I have never had more fun. On top of the fun, I have learned so much in such a short time. A year ago, if you told me that in a year I would know how to build and program a robot, I would have told you that you are crazy. VEX robotics has changed my career plans as well. Even though I am only a sophomore I know that I want to do something in the engineering field. If it weren’t for VEX, I would have never considered engineering. That’s the story of how VEX changed my life in a good way.
