The Team 254 website is an incredible resource, vital to our team’s success. The primary goal of the website is to keep everybody informed about everything we do, from team members to sponsors to just general people interested in our team. To do this, we’ve redesigned our website this year to make it extremely easy to use. On the front page are recent blog posts, team information, and a list of upcoming events. Towards the top is a navigation bar with links to team history as well as detailed information about our outreach activities and collaborative efforts. Next, we have a detailed subsection on VEX, not only relaying information about VEX philosophy and history, but providing comprehensive summaries about each year’s VEX challenge and all the robots we’ve built over the years. Next we have the media section which includes custom photo and video applications so that everybody can view our robots and team members in action. Additionally, we have an incredibly useful Resources page, where we not only have information about our calendar, handbook, and team identity standards, but also have dozens of free, publicly available presentations, tutorials, and examples on everything from CAD practices to scouting software to actual robot code. Finally, we have the team blog, our main form of communication between students, parents, mentors, and teachers. We post everything team-related here, from tournament results to build updates to meeting minutes to improve collaboration and transparency. But beyond our publicly-facing pages, we also have a private, members-only portal. This portal allows students to manage their grades, sign up for events and workshops, view private documents, and access the team directory in case they need to contact one another. Thanks to this technology, we are able to be one of the most well-coordinated, successful robotics teams in the nation.
