Design a Game Animation

Any individuals, groups or Official VEX Robotics Competition teams can submit an animated video that shows and explains their own design for a VEX Robotics Competition game.Please indicate what software was used to create your animation when submitting your entry.

 

Prizes

  • 1st: 2009 VEX Robotics Competition Animation Award, 1 VEX Robotics Classroom Lab Kit, Autodesk Software Package, Automatic Team Qualification for the 2010 VRC World Championship
  • 2nd: 1 VEX Dual Control Starter Bundle
  • 3rd: 1 VEX Protobot Robot Kit

Requirements

To be considered a finalist, submitted animations should include the following:

  • Start with an introduction that states the name of the game
  • Show and explain the scoring objects in the game
  • Show and explain any field objects (goals, ramps, barriers, obstacles, etc.)
  • Demonstrate the game being played
  • Visually show how a demo match would be scored and who would win
  • Explain and/or demonstrate important game dynamics, rules and penalties
  • Show credits at the end of those involved in creating the game and animation (credits should not be more than 15 seconds)
Judging Submitted animations will be showcased on the RobotEvents.com Online Challenge website and will be scored by the viewing community. The community voting will determine 8 of the 10 finalists to make the final round of judging. 2 additional animations chosen by the VEX Advisory Councils and the challenge partners will complete the group of 10 finalists that move on to the last round of judging. The 10 finalist videos will then be scored with a weighted system including the community voting scores, scores given by the VEX Robotics Advisory Councils and scores given by representatives from the presenting sponsors of the VEX Robotics Competition World Championship. The combined scores of the judging panel will determine the 2009 Design a Game Animation winners.
