The Mathematical Science of a Flywheel

Our exciting flywheel has a large rotational inertia in part due to its 56 nuts. This picture shows shows the mass with a balance and the size of our flywheel by our very cool NASA 15 centimeter ruler. This picture is also informative by displaying the formula for the rotational inertia of a cylinder, ½ times mass times the radius squared, and the general calculus formula. Launching a disc doesn't slow down our flywheel much because it has a tendency to keep rotating.
