Challenge Details

Think of this as a recruitment poster. Your submission should inspire students, mentors, and supporters to get involved in robotics education and competition through the VEX Robotics programs, and should be created using a combination of words and imagery (photography, drawings, screen captures, etc.). All artwork must either be original or free to use, and include no watermarks. Different posters will focus on different aspects of the VEX Robotics experience to accomplish this goal.

Things to keep in mind for a successful submission:

• Your poster can be created digitally, or created on paper and scanned or photographed

• Any images used in your poster must be original artwork, in the public domain, or free to use

• VEX and REC Foundation logos are available in online brand guides if you wish to include them

• Online layout tools like Canva provide standard-size file templates and free-to-use clipart

• If you don’t have a digital drawing program, free online options include Inkscape, Krita, Gimp, and Vectr

• If you want to submit a photo of a non-digital poster, it's best to hang it on a wall in a well-lit room; place the camera at the same height as the poster, hold it very steady, and make sure you're not casting any shadows

• Feel free to draw, paint, use collage, vector art, pixel art, or paper-craft; all techniques and styles are welcome!

• Finally, and just as important as the rest: Tell us about your poster and how you created it!

Minimum Requirements

A submission must meet these minimum requirements in order to be judged.

1. Poster and descriptive text are created and produced solely by student team members.

2. Format: 

   • One PDF, JPG, or PNG image file (up to 20MB) with a minimum resolution of 300dpi and a printed size of 18”x24”.

   • One PDF file that includes a brief description of the poster and how the students created it, along with the title page described below.

3. Title Page:  Each entry must include a title page that includes:

   • Title of submission

   • Names of students who participated (using first names only is acceptable)

   • Team number 

   • Location of team

4. Content must be appropriate for all ages.

Note: Beginning with the 2023-24 season, challenge entries must be uploaded by the primary contact for a registered team. This individual should ensure that the submission meets all requirements and criteria before uploading.

1. Click the green Submit an Entry button on the right side of the screen.

2. Fill out the submission form and add an optional description of the entry to the Short Description field.

3. Ensure you are entering the correct team number and letter, with no spaces.

4. Click Save.

5. Click the blue Files /Images button in the upper right of the screen.

6. Drag/drop your PDF files into the Upload a File box, then refresh if needed to view file details below the Upload a File box.

7. Edit the Display Name and file information to include your entry title and your team number; for example, "Poster Challenge image, team 007x" and “Poster Challenge text, team 007x.”

8. Click on Save to record your edits.
