China Cultural Exchange (China mainland teams only)

This challenge offers Chinese robotics competition teams the unique opportunity to create the most representative symbols, places or activities showcasing the essence of the culture of China with VEX parts.

Prizes

The 1st ranked team from each grade level will receive an invitation to the 2025 VEX Robotics World Championship for their program and age level.

Eligibility

  • Teams must be a registered Chinese VIQRC or V5RC team for the current season (2024-2025).
  • Each team can only submit one entry. If multiple teams from the same school/club submit entries that are similar in content or presentation style, they will be considered as one entry. Entries should be submitted based on age level and competition program.

Requirements

  • The project must be built from VEX products, e.g., VEX 123, VEX GO, VEX IQ, VEX EXP, VEX V5 or VEX Pro.
  • Create and post a video / presentation recording up to (5) five minutes showcasing the culture of your country/region and the relevant object you built.
  • Video requirements:
    • The end of the video should display the team number, name, team roster, music source, and other basic information, which should not exceed 15 seconds.
    • All material must be original or in the public domain (for example, music must be in the public domain).
    • Post or upload the video to Youku, Bilibili, or an equivalent platform without password. Save the link to the posted or uploaded video as you will need this to make your submission through the attached form link.
    • Links to Google Drive, Dropbox, or any other “cloud drive” are not permitted and do not meet the requirements.
  • Your submission must:
    • Be original - Work submitted in previous or different Online Challenges may not be repurposed for this submission.
    • Be appropriate - The theme and descriptions must be appropriate for all ages.
    • Be completed by students. Students should be the sole creators of this submission. It is acceptable for adults to assist with downloading any necessary resources or submitting the story where students may need permission.
  • Optional: Include a short statement in English or native language with English translation of up to 100 words describing what we see in the video and explaining your intent to the judges.

Judging Information

Entries will be judged online by experienced volunteers using rubrics.

The judges will evaluate and score each entry based on the following criteria:

Up to 10 points for student team member(s) creating and producing the video*

Up to 35 points for clearly stating in the video

  • The symbol/building/activity and it’s representation of culture/spiritual force
  • Why they picked this symbol/building/activity
  • What they did and how they built it

Teams can communicate verbally, via graphics, illustrations, or in writing such as cue cards, etc.

Up to 35 points for the content that tells your story.  Scoring will be based on:

  • How well the video meets the requirements of the challenge
  • The type of project, activity, or event that the team used to solve the challenge
  • How well the team used images, graphics, and effects to build their item
  • How engaging and well-designed was the entry?

Up to 20 points for a well-structured, complete video that contains a clear beginning, middle, and end. The video can include graphics, photos, or special effects to support the story. Is your Video creative and well made with good picture, editing and sound quality?

*Students should be the sole creators of this submission. It is acceptable for adults to assist with downloading any necessary resources or submitting the story where students may need permission.
