We are a first year VEX robotics team made up of six third and fourth grade girls. Before this year, we had only heard about robotics, but this year changed our view of the design process and engineering. We began as six girls who were unsure what this season would hold, but now we KNOW we are builders, engineers, programmers, and problem solvers.

We began by brainstorming what we wanted to learn more about, and the electrical components of VEX interested us. We began exploring past electrical engineers, and we found Edith Clark, the first woman employed as an electrical engineer and the inventor of the calculator. Next, we interviewed local female engineers. They have worked together and shared experiences in the field. We left inspired and ready for the next year of robotics.
