My name is Lauren and I'm almost 11 years old. I'm a builder, in charge of batteries, recently promoted to head scout, and for the first time I will be on the drive team in our next tournament. I've always wanted to be in some sort of robotics ever since I first heard about it, but I'm home schooled and there wasn't any independent teams on Oahu that I could join. So, we made our own team with some of our friends and family, creating 808 Robotics, the first independent team on Oahu. Before VEX, I wanted to be a cook because I love food. I loved not only eating it, but creating it. I had never thought about becoming an engineer until I joined VEX. After joining robotics I found out how much fun it was to build and compete. I was able to use my creativity in a different way. Now, I still want to be a cook, but I also want to be an engineer. In the end, I guess cooking and robotics go hand in hand. (Or hand in mouth.)
