REC Challenge Make it Real: Hinge Plate Created by Naveen Mathew, Team 7983R The part I have created is called the Hinge Plate. Its overall dimensions are .484” X 17.5” X .546”. This part would be used on a robot to connect parts, increase stability, and create a strong foundation when used in plurality. I used Autodesk Inventor to design this part, which I have been using for the past two years. I started by making the top part of the plate, then proceeded to add the hinge connectors and fillet the edges for more strength. Overall, this challenge showed me the full practicality of 3D modeling softwares in engineering, and I will definitely be using them in my career in the future. Its usefulness comes from being able to convey your ideas or thoughts into visual form and without any cost or materials.
