Introducing the 2018 - 2019 VEX Robotics game:Triangle Frenzy. The game is played on a 12 foot by 12 foot field with two alliances: one red and one blue. The objective of the game is to score more points than the opposing alliance. The field has three plastic railings elevated 14 inches above the field, with a width of 5 inches. On top of the railings are slidable plates with inserts for triangular foam prisms. Sliding the plates together so that they are touching gets you 10 points. Placing the triangles onto the plates so that they are fully nested in the inserts gets you 2 points each. Any triangles nested next to a same coloured triangle reward a multiplier bonus. For example, 2 triangles side-by-side would reward a multiplier bonus of 2, while 3 triangles side-by-side would reward a multiplier bonus of 3, giving 4 and 18 points respectively. Teams are not allowed to remove triangles of the opposing alliance once they have been nested. Robots must be under 18 by 18 by 18 inches. The game period will consist of a 15 second autonomous period, where the robot will move on its own with no driver intervention, and a 1 minute 45 second driver control period. Each team’s robot is allowed to begin with one triangle as a pre-load Each alliance has the ability to use one triangle and one skyrise section as a driver load at any point throughout the game. Placing a skyrise piece in the middle of the plastic railings rewards a team with 10 points each.
