5. The H2o Grow

     We, Team 394B  have used  VEX game elements from past tournaments to produce an innovative invention, the “H2o Grow.”  It helps grow plants more efficiently and can brighten up a classroom with its vibrant colors, creating a better, more enjoyable learning environment.      We came up with this design by taking out all our old VEX game elements, took them apart if possible, and played around with them by joining them in different ways.  Initially, we were just thinking of using some of them as planters but felt that was boring.  Then I remembered how I was going to test if plants really grew better with magnets for science fair and we started to put the pieces together.      The H2o Grow is an invention that helps water a plant efficiently and faster.  We had our mentor cut out the top of the barrel from Gateway to serve as the planter.  We then took apart a cube from Skyrise and four stars from Star Struck to make the holder.  We wanted to put a watering container over it & found the ring from Round Up was perfect for holding the Skyrise peg which had a small hole in it.  All you have to do to water the plant is to pour the water into the top of the Skyrise peg and it flows through the tube and into the soil evenly.  We started with the magnets from the Crossover bridge but they were too difficult to attach so we just ended up using regular wall magnets.  Magnets are proven to help plants grow significantly stronger, taller, and healthier based on research from my science fair project.  We were going to use the beads from the Sack Attack sacks as our planting soil but when we tested the beads and the potting mix for their ability to hold moisture, they both had the same low moisture reading after taking readings every two hours for four hours so we didn’t.      This is how we came up with our H2o Grow!
