When I hear the phrase 'girl power' I think of how much a female can make an impact on the world. Just because we have long hair and pretty faces, doesnt mean we cant build a robot like anyone else. Its affected my teams approach to robotics because we now have two female teams. 8871B has gotten the excelence award at our very first competition this year! Our teams consist of both females and males. We dont favorite any type of gender here. I for one can say, the girls have helped the boys complete robots. Our team president is a female! Every body on this team has a role. Some of these roles include Captian, programmer, co-captian, builders, and even battery queen. Being diverse helps our robot and helps our team succeed because of many reasons. First of all, different people know different things. Someone can know hoe to build while the other knows how to program. Also, each one of us have our own ideas on how we can improve the robot. Another reason is because some people have different experiences, I for one have been on this team for 3 years and it has been the best 3 years of my life. Lastly, we all learn eachothers differences. My Vex role modle has to be my coach, Mrs Jablon. She helps us succeed when it comes to having competition. She also makes sure we are having fun while working hard. We have won multiple awards, including the excellence award. Overall, our team is one of the best ones out there.
