This year, our robotics team, Titan Team Kronos, wanted to go all out with the new V5 program, but unfortunately, 2 months later, they still haven't arrived. But that did not stop us! even with the old cortex system, we were able to get a high score of 40 points in a match as well as achieve Tournament Champion against 2 V5 robots. We were also able to clinch the skills challenge award as a bonus, qualifying us for the State Competition!!!
This is a casual afternoon in The Haverford School's Robotics Team. In one corner of the shop, Dr. Golecki, the School's Robotics Director, is explaining the material science aspect of VEX robots.
Besides the fun and engaging experience of the Competition, VEX Robotics can also spark students' interests in the related fields of science and prepare them for the more focused and in-depth exploration of sciences in college.
What we love about VEX the most is the union between teammates, that comes from the conflict over ideas. We face situation where our solutions are different, driving us to listen to each other on equal grounds with respect. This help us grow as individuals, as a team, but most importantly as a family.
For this picture
We chose this picture because it reminds us how teamwork should be done cooperatively. For some of us, this is our first time competiting in the VEX competition and learing about this type of engineering. We really enjoy working together and doing our best in the competition.
Effort. How does one visualize effort?
When you search the word “effort” you will find that the words “Achievement” and “Struggle” are both synonyms for the word “effort”. Something every VEX competitor will understand. That although your efforts may bring you struggles it can also bring you Achievement.
From the document “101 Things I wish I’d Known Before My First VEX Tournament” rule number 92 states “Have a lot of fun, remembering that sometimes fun and pain go hand in...
Do you ever have an idea and think to yourself "how would I even begin to put this into words"? Sometimes the best way to show what you're thinking, whatever extravagant, amazing idea you have, is to put it into a drawing. To wrap our heads around complexities, we just write them out on our whiteboard. This shows how complex code can be pieced together in an elegant, simple way through drawing. The whiteboard shows remnants of past projects and design ideas, a history of our creativity. This truly is what robotics is about, collaboration, expression,...
The robot is not only a machine to fight in the competition, but more an intimate friend in our daily life. We live together, fight together and compile together. It is playing a more and more important role in my life. For each inch of the aluminum part, each centimeter of the elastic on its body, I installed them all by my own hands. They just seems to be part of myself.
