The Heat of Competition

This photo is a symbol of what we love love about robotics. Our favorite part is the heat of competition. We take things very serious and focus on winning. Our goal is to always win; however, we do love to have fun along the way. Having fun as a team and a class is one of the most enjoyable things about robotics. As a team we take pride in our robot and want to push ourselves and the robot to be as successful as possible.

Here at NYIT, the IEEE club offers students the chance to practice what they learn in class by building projects. Students work together building VEX robots that enhance their understanding on how electronics are designed and put together. Building robots can be a challenging task, however the friendships and memories make it worth while. The photo represents one of the many close relationships at the club. It shows IEEE members, Nick hugging and Seamus at the VEX worlds 2018 competition. Their public affection gives an idea of the kind of friendships...

It's okay to fall as long as you get back up

In VEX IQ, everyone fails. But the key to improvement is to get back up and keep on trying, rather than just giving up. In this photo, we were making a super tall stack of Hubs and at the last second knocked them all down. This happens all the time in VEX, whether your robot falls apart, you lose the autonomous code or the robot stops working mid-match. What we have learned over 2 years is that even when you feel like you've failed, things always get better if you pick yourself up and carry on trying your best.
