It Takes a Team

In robotics, it takes a whole team of people to make sure the robot is ready and works its best. In this image, members of our team are working on the robot to make sure that it is ready for our first competition. Members are researching, tightening loose screws, and ensuring that everything looks as it should be. No member can do this all, so everyone works together, making it entirely a team effort.

Our Little Baby

On our team we feel like a family, so we always tend to act like one. In this picture we have one of our team members holding the robot like a baby. This is because he basically treats our robot like a baby. He's our programer, a builder, and baby sitter because he likes to take the robot home. So it was only appropriate that he got to be the ¨mom¨ in the picture. We are all gathered around our ¨new mom¨ in awe of our precious baby.

Vex Camaraderie- by Jensie Coonradt

Vex Camaraderie

I started Vex IQ competitions in the fifth grade, and it's the teamwork and friendships that I have made along the way that has kept me coming back every year.

This photo shows two girls that used to be strangers, from different backgrounds, cultures, and religions that formed a team to work for a common goal. Our faces reflect our joy of camaraderie in achieving our goal and the true friendship we achieved through hard work, fun, and competition.

This is what the spirit of Vex Robotics is all...

Robotics is FUN

This is a picture of our flywheel from the ball's perspective. We have devoted 200+ man hours into this flywheel to get it honed and working. This just shows the path to greatness.

Focussed #GirlPower

The best part of competition is the journey to victory. Sometimes the victories are small, like finding that small piece of code that makes our autonomous routine run perfectly. We are so close!

One Unit

Teamwork has always been my favourite aspect of VEX Robotics. This photo was a candid shot taken by one of our club members at the 2017-2018 VEX World Championship. The three clearly defined figures in the middle is our team- who got through 9 months of  hard work, fundraising, thousands of hours after school and endless arguments- together, as a unit, as we faced our final challenge at Worlds. As a small New Zealand team with little funding, reaching Worlds was our goal and a dream come true, and getting there cemented the fact that together, we could accomplish anything.

Cross-Training: Preparing Myself for the Future

My favorite thing about VEX is learning skills outside of my strongpoint. I am the programmer for 3631X DynamiX, but I am able to learn from each member of my team. Our team member devoted to documentation and media teaches everyone documentation skills, and has us take pictures of the progress we make on every task. Our builders give easy build tasks to those who don’t spend a time constructing the robot, so that they are able to learn through hands-on experience. This allows me to mentor other teams in not only programming, but documentation, build, and media as well.

Critical Mass: A New Outlook

Taken at VEX Worlds 2018, this photo highlights the back of our t-shirts in a way we don't often get to see. While each of us has our own element, demonstrating our individuality, the overall impression one gets from this picture is one of unity. If one looks closely, the rest of the team is visible running skills in the background. This photo exemplifies my favorite part of robotics, watching our hard work pay off in a spectacular fashion.
