PF Robotics Academy was established in 2017 at Patrick Fogarty Catholic Secondary School in Orillia, Ontario. PF Robotics Academy strives to increase student interest and involvement in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) by engaging students in hands-on sustainable and affordable curriculum-linked Robotics technology programs. PF Robotics Academy began in May 2017, when each high school in the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board was provided a VRC competition kit and asked to form a team that would design, build, and program a robot for the "Nothing but Net" challenge. Our team excelled in the challenge, and as a result, our teacher mentor, Mr. Mike Milliard, decided to register the team for the 2017-2018 VRC game "In the Zone" under team number 42904. In the fall of 2017, Mr. Milliard was successful in raising the required funds through community business sponsorship to support two VRC teams, 42904R and 42904G. Team 42904G was primarily sponsored by a Girl Powered Team Grant from the Robot Education and Competition Foundation (RECF) of Greenville, Texas. A second teacher mentor, Mr. Jeff Cole, joined us that fall and provided much assistance in the area of programming. Our teams both achieved a quarter-final finish in the Ontario Provincial VRC Championship in February 2018. Over the summer of 2018, plans were implemented to transform PF Robotics Academy from a small two-team after-school program to an Ontario Provincial powerhouse in VEX robotics. PF Robotics Academy is now: four VRC teams, 42904G/R/T/Z five VIQ teams, 1705A/B/C/D and 1706G two credit courses in Robotics at Patrick Fogarty CSS host to the annual Orillia VRC/VIQ Qualifying Tournament host to a VEX IQ summer camp 2019 three teacher mentors, Mr. Mike Milliard (VEX event partner), Mr. Jeff Cole, and Mr. Jason Janisse
